Dear Members:

I am happy to report that with the help of our state-appointed Fact-Finder Robert Weakley, after 5 hours and 45 minutes of mediation, the VEA and Board of Ed. have tonight finally reached a memorandum of agreement for a 4 year settlement.  All of the terms of the agreement will be shared with all members at one time at a General Membership Meeting to be held on March 31 at 6pm.  Please do not ask for details prior to the General Membership meeting.  Location is to be determined and will be announced in the near future.  The meeting will also be made available on Zoom (members must log in with their names visible).  The information will be posted on the Negotiations section of the VEA website (log-in required) for those unable to attend the meeting.  The terms and conditions are tentative and subject to the ratification of the members of the VEA by a vote during the following week and by the full Board at one of their meetings.  We have delivered to the members the best deal we could achieve and next the decision is up to you.

I thank our Negotiations Committee of Tiffney Forand, Mil Johnson, Regina Merkel, Val Carbonara, Roxanne DiRenzis, Tara Myerson, Brandy Patch, Meghan Greenfield, Dayna Quiles, Patti Gibbs, Rob Imperato, Chris Mohan, our NJEA Uniserv Field Rep. Lou Randazzo, and Greg Yordy of the NJEA Research Division.  This settlement took a long time, a lot of work, and much debate and discussion.  We thank the members of the Board and their negotiations team.

Sincerely, for the Negotiations Committee,

Lou Russo, President
